The island of Corfu is one of the most interesting and beautiful places of Greece. A perfect place for your holidays …
Corfu is a beautiful big island, the bridge connecting the sensuous Orient with the rational West.
It is situated at the Northwestern end of Greece and surrounded by the dark blue Ionian Sea. On the east side of the island you can see the coastline of the Greek Mainland.
The name of the island in Greek is “Kerkyra”, whereas in the European languages it is called “Corfu”, a false pronunciation of the word “Koryfo”, the medieval name of the island. It is the homeland of several important personalities of the political and intellectual life of Greece. The great pro of Corfu is its culture, both of the past and of nowadays; once there, the visitor feels like living between past and present. This happens not only because the remains of the past are still active in the everyday life of the locals, but also because the people living on the island lead their own way of life which seems to emerge from the opera. To cut a long story short, if you come to Corfu you will feel the magic of the place: Corfu is the island of fun, of insouciance, of music and songs, of culture.
Access to the island and to our hotel
Access to the island is possible by any means of transport.
There is a regular and frequent airway connection with Athens and other European cities and charter flights, especially in summer and during the main holiday periods (Christmas, Easter).
You may also get to the island by public bus (road travel up to Igoumenitsa and then by ferryboat). There is daily service from Athens and regular courses from Thessaloniki, via the new highway of Egnatia.
The island is 560 kilometers far from Athens, 470 kilometers far from Thessaloniki, 355 kilometers far from Patras and 370 kilometers far from Ioannina.
Access by ship is possible from Igoumenitsa; there is also a ferryboat line from Patras to the town of Corfu, with daily service, which also connects the island with several towns of Italy. In summer you will find local boats from and to Parga (excursion boats) as well as from and to Cefallonia, Ithaca, Paxi and Antipaxi.
The new port of Corfu offers facilities of mooring and fuel and water supply to tourist boats and yachts; marines are also available at Gouvia, northern to the town of Corfu, and at Benitses.
From the port or the airport of Corfu you will arrive at “Delfinia” after twenty minutes drive southwards. The resort is found on the seafront, just beside the village of Moraitika. You can reach the hotel by rented or private car and motorbikes, by the well equipped public buses of the the local KTEL, as well as by taxi, since the distance is pretty short. You may also access “Delfinia” from Lefkimmi which is closer enough; if you have a yatch, you may berth it in one of the marines of the island and get to the hotel by car.
